چکیده

The main objective of the study is investigating impact production risks on adoption improved technologies (such as seed, inorganic fertilizer and chemical inputs) level multiple in Ethiopia particularly Amhara region. used two years cross sectional data collected 2011 2013. applied stage regression analysis, first, I regressed function order to drive expected output risk factors (variance skewness). In second stage, have multivariate probit models including output, variances skewness measure. result revealed that variance are major determinant for decisions fertilizer, inputs technologies. Moreover, credit access, membership farm cooperatives, ownership livestock, land size percentage irrigated positively significantly determine To increase modern technology consequently reduce risk. Policy makers should put emphasis overcoming market failures, create strong sustainable cooperatives aversion farmers be considered when designing economic policies. Key words: risk, adoption, model Ethiopia. DOI: 10.7176/RJFA/13-5-02 Publication date: March 31 st 2022

Trucking Industry Adoption of Information Technology: A Structural Multivariate Probit Model

The objective of this research is to understand the demand for information technology among trucking companies. A multivariate discrete choice model is estimated on data from a large-scale survey of the trucking industry in California. This model is designed to identify the influences of each of twenty operational characteristics on the propensity to adopt each of seven different information te...

Econometric Analysis of Access to Agricultural Extension Workers’ Service and its Implication on Crop Yield in Tigray Region, Ethiopia

Agricultural extension workers’ service has been placed as the central pattern of agricultural transformation in general and smallholder farmers in particular. Due largely to this commensurately known trend, identifying factors that determine farmers’ access to extension workers’ service and the effect of the service on crop yield was found to be imperative. Cross sectional data was collected t...

Consumption risk, technology adoption and poverty traps: evidence from Ethiopia

Much has been written on the determinants of input and technology adoption in agriculture, with issues such as input availability, knowledge and education, risk preferences, profitability, and credit constraints receiving much attention. This paper focuses on a factor that has been less well documented: the differential ability of households to take on risky production technologies for fear of ...

Bayesian Analysis of Spatial Probit Models in Wheat Waste Management Adoption

The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the adoption of wheat waste management by wheat farmers. The method used in this study using the spatial Probit models and Bayesian model was used to estimate the model. MATLAB software was used in this study. The data of 220 wheat farmers in Khouzestan Province based on random sampling were collected in winter 2016. To calculate Bay...

Multivariate Probit Analysis of Binary Time

SUMMARY The development of adequate models for binary time series data with covariate adjustment has been an active research area in the last years. In the case, where interest is focused on marginal and association parameters, generalized estimating equations (GEE) (see for example Lipsitz, Laird and Harrington (1991) and Liang, Zeger and Qaqish (1992)) and likelihood (see for example Fitzmaur...
